Well, after having 2 c sections, 6 VBAC at the fair Oaks hospitals, which the last one was 2 and half years ago with a bad experience, I was threatened to call the CPS on me just because I denied extra tests on my baby, I never wanted go back there anymore, it was so hard to find a doctor who could understand me, due to my age and my miscarriages history I had to go back to a "good hospital" well I friend of mine who had her babies at home told me to try the midwifery in Centerville unfortunately they couldn't take me because I had 2 C-sections, they transferred me to Sage Midwifery, I would love to share my experience in details but I can't make my comment too long, it was the best experience of my life, the only birth without epidural, it was quick and I did it, I thought I couldn't make it but the midwives were there for me, they encouraged me to do it and I did, I'm so thankful to God first then to them they were more helpful than my doctors in the past, the recovery was so quick and no pain, they also encourage me to breat feed my baby fully, honestly my baby doesn't suffer from her stomach like the other kids, and she is so calm.
Great experience thank you ladies you are doing a great job helping women, May God bless you always . - Carla Gomez··from Google
I’ve been meaning to write this review for months, and now that I’m about 7 months postpartum, I finally have the words.
I transferred my care to Sam and the Sage team at around 26 weeks pregnant after moving back to the area from Colorado, and from the very beginning, I felt so seen. Every prenatal visit felt calm, personal and comfortable. It never felt rushed or clinical. It was like I was catching up with friends and not just going to an appointment.
As a birth photographer, I’ve had the privilege of being in many birth spaces and seeing many different kinds of providers. With that perspective, I can honestly say Sam’s (and the Sage team's) care is phenomenal.
When I went into labor, I was second-guessing myself because this was my second baby and it felt so different from my first. Sam and her team didn’t hesitate to come to our home when I called. What I thought might be a faster second birth turned into an incredibly long labor, and Sam stayed with me for over 24 hours.
When dehydration and exhaustion led to a hospital transfer, Sam came with me and never left my side until after my son was born. Not every midwife transfers with their clients and that meant more to me than I can really explain. A home birth transfer can carry its own kind of trauma, even when the outcome is positive, and having Sam there made a big difference. She was familiar, calming and steady in a moment where everything suddenly felt unfamiliar. Especially while changing providers, having her there helped me feel less anxious.
That kind of care is hard to put into words. Sam made me feel safe, supported and trusted, even when things didn’t unfold exactly how I imagined. She has become a friend and I honestly miss seeing her and the whole team so often.
I’m so grateful for Sage Midwifery and for the way they cared for me, my baby and my family during such an important season of our lives. I only hope to have a third so I can choose them again! - Kara Hall··from Google
I couldn’t have more wonderful things to say about Sam and the team at Sage.
My wife and I had the best experience with Sam, not just for my prenatal care, but she also was there from conception to birth! She completed our IUI procedure for us.
Being a queer couple, we had visited a few fertility clinics in the area when we were ready to start the process of getting pregnant! These clinics were not only dismissive of us in general, but most were incredibly expensive and over medicalized for what we needed. We didn’t have any known fertility issues, but the industry is mostly geared towards infertile straight couples. I was going to be required to undergo expensive tests and take meds to do an IUI cycle unnecessarily.
I had thought I wanted to do a home birth and heard that midwives could do IUI, so I started to look for midwives in the area. Once I found Sam and Sage, it was clear she was perfect for the first part of our journey. Sam was INCREDIBLE with supporting a more natural and less medical conception journey and had a strong history with Fairfax Cryobank. She helped us navigate the complicated process with our known donor (navigating the donor process is not for the faint of heart 😅). Not only was she significantly less expensive than the clinics, but I was able to simply track my cycle under her expertise and was able to get pregnant on only the second try!
We then signed on for prenatal and home birth care with Sam for my pregnancy. Sam and her whole team used evidence-based and trauma informed care throughout the entire pregnancy. They supported me with evidence-based, unbiased information about risks and benefits of every procedure, test, and step of the pregnancy and listened to my decisions without judgment. I couldn’t be more thankful for the personal, kind, and knowledgeable way that the Sage team supported me through my pregnancy.
Then, when i woke up one morning at almost 41 weeks with high blood pressure and ended up with pre-eclampsia and in the hospital needing to be induced, Sam was there the entire time. She was an advocate, support, and rock for both me and my wife, and we couldn’t have done the birth without her. She-integrated seamlessly into our care team there and made sure I understood everything that was happening and advocated for me to have a birth that felt right to me, even if it wasn’t the home birth I had planned. I felt safe, even in the hospital, knowing that Sam had my back. I managed to have an incredible birth at the hospital anyway.
Even after birth, the Sage team is still there for me - the aftercare and support that I’ve received for both me and my baby has been wonderful and has helped to ease my anxiety. I have somewhere to go for all of my questions and concerns. They show up to my house for visits the first few weeks and continue care for 6-8 weeks after delivery.
I could write more about all of the support and help that Sage gave throughout our pregnancy, but I think this review is sufficiently long 😆. I’ll finally say - Thank you, Sam, Jackie, and Corrine for everything you have done for us. I’m so lucky to call you all friends! And to anyone considering working with them, they are an absolutely incredible team and are well worth it for conception, prenatal, birth, and post-partum support.
